EHS Photo Competition

Enter to Win Fame and Prizes!

Each year the EHS holds a Photo Competition, which closes at the end of August.

Members and the general public are eligible to enter and are encouraged to take photos of their gardens year-round in preparation for this competition. Record your wonderful landscapes and the plants and other living things in your garden on film or a digital image.

Entry categories vary annually.

Winners are announced at the EHS Awards Night in September.

Each winner receives a certificate and a calendar of the winning photos.

The first place winner receives $25.

Competition rules:

All photos must be taken outdoors in the Edmonton area.

All photos must be submitted as 4 x 6 prints and clearly marked on the back with the information on the entry form (please us a photo-safe marker to avoid damaging the photo). Winner will be asked to provide a high-resolution digital copy (where applicable).

All entries must be accompanied by the entry fee of $5 per photo and be received by the advertised deadline to be eligible.

Entry into this competition implies acceptance of the following:

• With proper credits to the photographer and a reference to the EHS Photo Competition, entrants and winners give the EHS the right to publish the photograph(s) in the Gardener’s Gate and on the EHS web site, and use them at any EHS exhibition, promotional or educational event. Usage includes the right to make minor modifications, such as post-processing adjustments, minor cropping or fading for a particular purpose, but that do not result in a substantive change to the image. Winning photos in the Photo Competition may also be published in a calendar in limited quantities and given to the winners or sold, without further compensation to the winners.
• In some cases, the photographer may be required to obtain a third party property release. In case of legal challenge, the photographer agrees to hold EHS harmless, and assume all liability or injury that may arise from entry into this competition. Photographers retain all creative rights to their art.
